These are the brief stories of just a few of those Galen has helped recently. Each individual's treatment is obviously very personal. They have, however, because of what they have achieved, agreed to tell you how Galen helped them.

Sadie Ellison, 35, a marketing director from Wimbledon went to Galen for fertility advice. At the initial consultation she underwent food intolerance testing and was also later given Bach flower remedies
She said: “I cut out wheat, alcohol and caffeine – I felt dreadful after doing that for two or three weeks but then you start thinking about all the rubbish you have been putting into your body.
“I came out the other side with an amazing improvement in how I felt. They gave me prescribed herbal preparations and also natural bacterial capsules which I needed to keep in the fridge. It takes quite a commitment to take a tincture three times a day and a bacterial capsule morning and night with food but Galen help you all the way through the process.”
Sadie, ironically, fell pregnant within a week of the first consultation. When the testing kit showed she was pregnant she went to Galen on a Monday morning and had a blood test privately and had confirmation by the Wednesday.
Sadie added: “I would say I am quite up on diet and fitness but it certainly made me think more about the direct effects of what you put in your body. Compared with other patients having treatment for fertility I was one of the younger ones My treatment was a very positive experience which I am happy to share with others.
Sadie’s baby is due in November.

Charlie Camilleri had suffered for much of her adult life with crippling migraines but it was Galen that finally brought relief.
Charlie, 52, a self-employed artist, had her first migraine in her early twenties. She said: “They were affecting my life badly. I was having two or three attacks a month which might debilitate me for two or three days at a time.
“I had tried just about everything, traditional drugs from my GP who had me on god knows what. I went to the migraine clinic at Charing Cross Hospital. I was living off pills. Then somebody recommended Galen and that was when I met Caroline.
“I had a combination of treatments originally – about 18 months ago – I had acupuncture and herbal treatments and also they looked at my diet. I had no wheat and dairy and that helped. It was the combination of treatments that worked and some lifestyle changes.”
Charlie had tried cutting out the usual suspects with migraine – cheese, chocolate and red wine.
“Those things often did trigger a migraine but there were other things going on as well,” she says.
She still has acupuncture ‘top-ups’ every six weeks and takes herbs daily but now believes the attacks are behind her.
“Gradually over several months things seemed to improve. Now I don’t think about it. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a migraine.”

Mrs T Moore, a 40-year-old accountant feared that her chances of getting pregnant at her age were rather slim. She had received treatment over four years with Galen to boost her immune system. Last June she started tests for an IVF programme with Kingston Hospital. The treatment itself started in December but at the same time she chose to have acupuncture and herbal treatments with Galen.

She also went on a no wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, coffee or tea detox programme. Her diet was augmented with herbs, vitamins and minerals.

Amazingly she fell pregnant after her first treatment and is now expecting a baby in October.

She says: “I was quite shocked – and delighted I didn’t have many of the side effects of an IVF programme and am sure I am better able to cope because of the acupuncture. The Galen treatments have really boosted my immune system and helps me to stay calm.

“I don’t know if it is a boy or a girl, I don’t mind as long as it is healthy.”

Ana Timberlake a 63-year-old statistician was diagnosed two and a half years ago with fibrosis of the lung. She said: “I was shattered, it is progressive and there is no treatment. Since then Galen has helped strengthen my auto immune system with herbal treatments and vitamin supplements."

“I have acupuncture which helps boost my energy. The statisitics show – and as a statistician she should know – that 50 per cent die within two and a half years but I am still doing my life, I travel and I am independent still. Galen has been very good to me. Part of what people with my condition require is to feel good, you can’t feel stressed – that brings your system down and then you get worse. Their support has been very good for me.”

Carey Dunne from Teddington had a two-week-old baby, Jed, who was suffering from very severe reflux and losing weight. When they took him to hospital the doctors recommended a programme of drugs which he would probably have been on until he started walking. Carey, who runs her own business about health management, said: “We were absolutely horrified, we have gone down the natural route for years – we always get medical opinion and then decide what we are going to do.
“Literally getting no sleep as Jed could not settle, there was a repetitive cycle of feeding, sickness and then crying.
“We went to Caroline and from our first appointment we had great support. She rang me at least once a day in between daily visits firstly to check on Jed and just as importantly to give us the moral support and strength we needed. We used a mixture of herbs from Caroline which soothed him and countered the acid in conjunction with a chiropractor she works closely with, doing strengthening work on his tummy. We found Caroline was a godsend. We now never go to anybody else for anything.”

Now you have seen how we can help, why not meet the Galen consultants or see just some of the treatmentswe have on offer.
